Corgi Toys is the name of a range of die-cast toy vehicles produced by Mettoy Playcraft Ltd. in the United Kingdom
Bom on 26 August 1959 and launched by the British Motor Corporation (BMC), the Mini was not officially known as such.
Launched in two versions, the Austin Seven and the Morris Mini-Minor, it was soon to become a motoring phenomenon.
Designed by Sir Alec Issigonis as the smallest possible car that could accommodate four adults and luggage, his design was a box measuring approximately 10ft by 4ft by 4ft, with very samll 10" wheels and all independent suspension. Initially slow to take off, 1960 saw over 100,000 production models and by 1962 this figure topped 200,000 where it remained until 1977.
After 41 years of unparalleled popularity the Mini finally reached the end of the road in the year 2000, with the final ever model running off the production line and an epic era of motoring coming to an end.
